Let the Food Be Thy Medicine

Last week I felt the symptoms of cold was developing so I took a proactive approach by stepping up my water intake to keep mucus line moist and about 50ml of freshly squeezed organic pure calamansi juice on empty stomach which is excellent Vitamin C. (Pure calamansi increases alkalinity of the body. If you put water or honey in it becomes acidic) then after 30 minutes I drank half a cup of probiotic.  Did you know that the live cultures of good bacteria fights the growth of disease causing bacteria? (And if you are under antibiotic medication, increasing your intake of probiotic restores your inner eco-system as antibiotic destroys the healthy flora in the gut).

For breakfast I ate a bowl of oats  which is great source of zinc with banana and raisins. The I spiced up my hot drink with organic ginger and honey (spicy food clears congestion and soothes itchy throats). My late Mom always gave us quick natural relief from her old chicken soup recipe which I ate and sprinkled with a good amount of crushed garlic. Garlic is antiviral and antibacterial. I also did a bit of yoga to stretch torso and bring energy to head (decongest sinuses) and open up respiratory tract.  Plus a good exposure to the morning sun gives you a shot of  natural Vitamin D. In no time at all, the entire virus was flushed out of my system naturally!
