Creamier than ever!

img249We are delighted to re-launch our carabao’s milk on the 15th September with even better and creamier taste!  Access to capability training of the women dairy farmers makes a huge difference as we have a much improved carabao’s milk!  UPLB’s intervention is such a big help.  Thank you so much to them and to our hardworking dairy women farmers! We will be offering free taste on Saturday, 31st August for the first 25 customers and see the difference. If you miss this date, we still have other dates for free sample in the run up to Market Day (15th September). Please check this out every now and then.

Update from us

Many thanks to those who signed up to our subscription scheme for the months of August and September.  It has not been smooth as a few items were oversubscribed or we ran out of your preferred sizes. Big apologies for that.  We will do our best to bring ourselves up to speed to serve you best.

Here’s how you can take advantage of discounted farm-fresh organic produce at TheVillageGreenShop

  • Organic consumers become organic subscribers if they buy in advance either in one lump sum or in instalment their food basket 4 weeks or 8 weeks in advance or at the beginning of the growing season. In return for their subscription fee, subscribers receive an assortment of organic produce.
  • Through subscription we are able to account for your requirements at the start of the growing season and share in the commitment to eat sustainably produced local and seasonal food, and have the satisfaction of knowing where your food comes from, who produce it and how it was produced. Under extra ordinary circumstances not limited to heavy rain, typhoon and flooding some items may not be available so you should be open to what’s available given the situation.
  • We offer subscription all year round on a rolling basis.

Benefits if you subscribe

  • We offer 5% discount if you subscribe for more than 4 weeks. Discount is applied to weekly staple items for now. Renewable 2 weeks before expiry.
  • You are contributing to the affordability of organic produce because you collaborated with us from production through harvest. As more and more items are subscribed we are able to reduce significantly surplus at production stage. So, why not more people subscribe to organic and sustainable method of producing their own food?
  • Aside from saving time and money you won’t miss order cut off anymore! Simply you will tell us one time what you want and we’ll deliver them through your door according to your specifications.

Customise your foodbasket

  • Customising  your food basket is an important component in our subscription scheme. You will tell us in advance what you want in your weekly food basket which can be a variety of veg, fruits, meat, rice, sugar, herb salt, chicken and dairy. You may specify if you want several items unchanged or changed every week or replaced and we will deliver them on an assigned day in your neighbourhood. All subject to seasonality.

B) Cornucopia Scheme

If subscription to a weekly food basket is not right for you we offer Cornucopia Scheme where you sign up to a food basket worth between P250.00 and P2,000.00 and deliver you what’s on offer every harvest (Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays) which can be all veg, fruits, salad greens or combination of various items including rice, dairy, variety of meats and bottled items. If you would like to know more please contact us at

The first batch of lovely vegs and greens are here!

Freshly harvested greens made their way to TheVillageGreenShop just in time when we were preparing lunch. We had a good sampling of  spinach which we sauteed with garlic in olive oil, and made a salad of romaine (green tower variety so crisp!) with vine-ripened tomatoes, white onions and avocado and we drizzle them with our lovely salad dressing of Bragg cider vinegar, extra virgin olive, herb salt, pepper and crushed garlic. So fresh! Simply a delight!

We are grateful that in our own small way we are able to make a difference by giving families and communities in Metro Manila easy and affordable access to freshly harvested organic  local and seasonal food that  contains zero pesticides, zero fungicides, zero GMO, zero hormones and zero antibiotics.  It cannot get better than this!

If you placed your order of leafy greens (spinach, mustard greens, Chinese kangkong, native peachay, saluyot), lettuce greens (green tower variety, Mizuna)  pakbet mix (eggplant, okra, ampalaya, string beans, squash, saluyot and tomatoes), mongo,  avocado, Chokakan mangoes, brown mountain rice, organic bangus sardines, brown eggs, succulent red tomatoes, carrots, wild honey, potatoes etc.  They are ready for pick up anytime preferably when the sun is down and will make its way in your neighbourhood anytime this afternoon.

Carrots. Great for juicing together with arugula and green apple!


Calamansi. Squeeze them on papayas, ginger tea, grilled fish and seafood dishes or make a juice (our Green Drink)out of it. Excellent natural source of Vit C which you can drink pure on empty stomach in the morning! It’s not acidic unless you add honey or water in it. Pure juice increases alkalinity of your body. How? start by squeezing 4 pieces then add 4 next day, then 4 again following day and so on until you reach 28 pieces and continue everyday with 28.  If you’re female 19 and older you need 75 mg  of RDA, men 90 mg. RDA may differ according to your needs.

Rain brings blessings!

It’s how you see it! Picasso did not paint people the way they really are. Because it’s how you see it!

Check out his works here which am grateful to have seen as a student in Madrid. You wouldn’t realize how lucky you were if you live across a block off  Museo de Arte Contemporanea de Reina Sofia! I remember I would hie off to this place to get away from the drudgery of school work (if there’s such a thing in Spain but there is) or after long Spanish lunches… (yes always!)

So we are delighted to hear news that salad greens are growing nicely especially romaine this weekend. A few weeks back I updated you that the sun scorched if not bolted the delicate leaves of arugula and romaine so this weekend we have romaine aplenty!


And our all time favourites – green leafy veg such as spinach, camote greens, native pechay, chinese kangkong, mustard greens, saluyot, alugbati, dahon ampalaya are starring this weekend…

Green and leafy veg are incredibly flexible and easy to do.  You can juice them or saute in garlic and olive oil and sprinkle sea salt.  It never fails.

And we’ve got plenty of spuds (yes potatoes) too, brown eggs, white chicken, avocados, calamansi, red and white onions, calabasa, string beans, tomatoes and different beef  cuts such as for stew, sukiyaki, tapa and patties !




We’are also excited to tell you that cucumbers and french beans will be a regular feature starting next week! So watch out for our exciting additions each week!

I am sorry if you get disappointed over undelivered orders or (wrong) replacements for your orders.  Our desired outcome is to deliver the produce on the day you expect to eat them.   Please bear with us as we find ways to ensure that we have items that you need and ensure you are happy and delighted about what you buy from us.


Can I take you through our small operations so you get an understanding of how things work?

  • We do not source our produce from a food conglomerate with sophisticated conveyor belt operations that churn out huge quantities of items for supermarket aisles week after week.  At TheVillageGreenShop, the growing and raising of veg and livestock are not manipulated but rather we leave them to nature to take its course. Compare our items with conventionally grown produce-  our organic brown mountain rice for example is produced and harvested 2x a year only. Free range chickens take about 3 months or more while the broilers in the supermarket can get to your table in 45 days! And cows nowadays won’t see a blade of grass in 6 or 11 months let alone (GMO) corn or soybean feed!  Food corporations inject chemicals to be able to milk gallons and gallons of milk off cows laden with hormones and antibiotics plus added sugar, etc. and sell to you cheap that makes this generation obese! Indeed, time has intrinsic value: MONEY. For that reason I founded TheVillageGreenShop because I want to eat real living foods and share them with you. The soul-satisfying flavour you get from each of the items you buy from us is gift of Mother Nature for respecting the natural growth processes of vegetables, fruits and animals.
  • We design our business model around social ethos such as:
    • Integrity of food as our priority –we only sell produce that contains zero pesticides, zero fungicides, zero GMO/soybeans in feeds, zero hormones and zero antibiotics. We are resolute in the hope that by underpinning our enterprise based on honesty we are able to sustain our operations.
    • We only bring local and seasonal organic produce to your table sourced from real farmers i.e. small holder local family farmers with no direct link to market and their route to get their items to your table is through TheVillageGreenShop.  We support especially women dairy, vegetable and poultry farmers whose family’s sustainability depends on the market we help create for them.
    • We are low carbon social business and advocate for farm to table produce hence we don’t keep inventories.  We don’t want you to buy a product with transport expense as a major cost of the product!   So we bundle them up with other items from the origin of the produce to get to your area, and encourage you to buy collaboratively and subscribe.
    • TheVillageGreenShop ensures that our network of farmers share in the wealth they create by paying them a moral price i.e. we pay cash and we don’t pay cheap or haggle for a bargain instead we add more to it by helping build human capability resources and supporting their training on organic farming, food sustainability and caring for the earth in order for them to continue growing those crisp lettuces, juicy plump tomatoes, and give us those veggie-deliciousness and meat freshness and diversity in our food choices.

Although we have an inventory list of extensive meat cuts, bottle products, assortment of salad greens and veggies but please expect that it may be available or not so we should be open for wider options.
