Quick update from TheVillageGreenShop

  • We are currently experiencing an increase in subscription which we are grateful about.
  • The customers of TheVillageGreenShop are composed of subscribers – 1/3 are “long-time avid organic eaters” – they are also looking to switch to 100% organic and low-impact lifestyle. We fill their food basket each week – from rice to spices.   A third group is partly organic and another third is experimental – they are new converts who are looking to see the difference and impact of eating organic food.
  • We have added a few items in our weekly basket.  Check them out here

Some of you might be shifting gradually to 100% organic not only in food but also in personal products. We are glad we discovered Human Heart Nature.  Please check them out here They have values and mission that is quite similar to us so we are happy to work with them and bring their items to TheVillageGreenShop.

We have switched to 100% natural and chemical free shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, body wash, soap, facial cream, etc. Each week we retire a commercial brand and replace them with an organic personal product that contains NO SLS/SLES, ALS/ALES, PEGS, parabens, phthalates, silicones and other harmful chemicals! You can place your order with us at the following details:

We can’t help but share with you the generous cheers from supporters and clients alike.

Mouth and body connection

Our passion for organic living has gone beyond the borders of our local community but far and wide as technology enables us to reach out to like-minded individuals and organizations who not only share our vision to promote sustainable lifestyle and passion for eating fresh, seasonal and organic food but allow us to discover other people’s world and learn from them too. The encouraging words of Dr Diane Meyer, a holistic dentist is more than a pat on our back (we are grateful for that!) as we got enlightened that good health starts from the mouth.

My nephew's closeup smile.

Amalgam free smile.

We wish there is someone like her in the Philippines that ensures that mouth and body connection is critical to our overall wellness.

Nutritional Information:

We check out the internet and here’s what we found:

According to the American Chemical Society, “black rice is a nutritious and economical food source that is estimated to feed about one third of the world’s population.” Also known as forbidden rice, black rice has a sticky texture and a nutty flavor. Grown in the Philippines and Indonesia, it is consumed mostly in Asia for noodles, sushi, pudding and adding decoration to food.

Nutrients in Rice

It is well-known that brown rice is a healthier alternative to white. The difference between the two is that white rice is devoid of bran, which is full of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Like brown rice, black rice has similar nutrient levels and higher amounts of antioxidants. It is also a source of fiber and minerals, including iron. A 100g serving of black rice has 8.5g of protein, 3.5mg of iron and 4.9g of fiber. Compared to white, brown and red rices, black rice has the highest amount of protein and double the fiber of brown rice.
