Local Seasonal Food Bought Together

join handsTheVillageGreenShop was founded  based on group-buy, pre-order and subscription model which enable us to bring to your table fresh and affordable organic produce grown directly by community supported farms and family farmers, and picked to order for you.

We are taking our model to the next level by creating a wider distribution system where communities and local farmers come together to buy and sell local, seasonal and farm fresh sustainable produce .

Why are we doing this?  Because we would like to bring the price of organic produce further down, and the only way we can do this is to create an efficient food distribution system where more communities pre-order, subscribe and buy together on market days.  Simply, the more people buy together, the bigger the discount.  There is strength in numbers.

How it’s going to work?

You may sign up to either of the following as:

1) Local Drop

2) Susbcriber of organic produce

Local Drops  are passionate individuals, cafes, local stores or helpful neighbour who share with our mission to bring fresh healthy and sustainable food to their family, friends and communities which could be in offices, villages,  churches, schools, gym or practically any group who would like  to eat and buy together local, seasonal and organic produce. We will help set up the Local Food Drop in your area and organize your community to buy together local seasonal and sustainable produce.

The Organizers of the Local Food Drops enjoy discounts and other freebies.   Recently, a subscriber-friend of ours signed up to become a local food drop in her community in Quezon City and part of Greenhills.  So working together with our customers and subscribers who are as passionate as us is a brilliant way to increase our campaign, outreach and access of organic produce grown by local and community farmers.

Interested clients can buy directly to local food drops on a weekly basis.   Here’s how you can be part of a local food drop:

1) You can check with us if there is one in your community.  If there’s none, you may want to consider. Having joined your local Food Drop, you will let us know what you want to  try or subscribe from a selection of local seasonal and organic produce every week. Or you may respond to our weekly blast by pre-ordering on what’s on offer before cut-off.  You may check our Facebook page weekly.

2)  Your orders are picked and harvested to order by your local  farmers.

3) You pick up your order from the local Food Drop.

Sign up now and let us know.

TVGS ChalkboardPlease check out our harvest offerings on Thursday (10th October) and Saturday ( 12thOctober) which you can pre-order starting today until Wednesday, cut off is 11:00 am for all green leafy veg and salad green items, and Friday, 11:00 am for all types of meat, rice, bottled items.  We are also offering subscription for October through December harvest.

 Subscription Scheme

We do accept subscription gifts for your friends and family with our Cornucopia Scheme. This is a free choice scheme where you determine the price and the items you want in your weekly sustainable basket from the outset  and we will fill it out with your preferences e.g. all greens and veg or an assortment of veg and meat, plus  probiotic, or rice or other items. The choice is yours.

What is a subscription scheme?

Organic consumers become organic subscribers if you buy in advance either in one lump sum or in installment your food basket for 4 weeks or 8 weeks (if we didn’t hear from you we roll it going forward) or at the beginning of the growing season.  In return for your subscription fee, subscribers receive an assortment of organic produce at discounted price which you have specified ahead of time, including frequency and number of periods.  If you would like to know what it is to subscribe, why and how, please call us at 0927 675 5199/villagegreenshop@btinternet.com.

Against GMO

Food Hub

We are creating Food Hubs in various communities in the metropolis. The objective is very simple – we would like to bring local, seasonal and sustainable produce with no pesticides, no fungicides, no GMO, no hormones and antibiotics in every home. Recently, a subscriber-friend of ours signed up to become a food drop in her community in Quezon City and part of Greenhills. Working together with our customers and subscribers who are as passionate as ours is a brilliant way to increase our campaign, outreach in other communities and access of organic produce grown by local and community farmers. And it makes this campaign a win-win situation for us all because we are able to create bigger impact and enable our food hubbers to increase their weekly food staples of organic items through the discount we offer to them. You might want to eat healthy food everyday or gradually shift to 100% organic, and by becoming a food drop in your location, the discount might enable. Contact us at 0927 675 5199/villagegreenshop@btinternet.com.

Many thanks. Cheers.

Subscribing Organic Produce at TheVillageGreenShop

Carrots, cabbage, Chokanan mangoes, potatoes

Carrots, cabbage, Chokanan mangoes, potatoes

What it is to subscribe and why?

Organic consumers become organic subscribers if they buy in advance either in one lump sum or in instalment their food basket 4 weeks or 8 weeks in advance or at the beginning of the growing season.  In return for their subscription fee, subscribers receive an assortment of organic produce which you have specified ahead of time, including frequency and number of periods.

Through subscription we are able to account for your requirements at the start of the growing season and share in the commitment to eat sustainably produced local and seasonal food, and have the satisfaction of knowing where your food comes from, who produce it and how it was produced. Under extra ordinary circumstances like heavy rain, typhoon and flooding some items may not be available so you should be open to what’s available given the situation.

By subscribing to a weekly organic food basket you help reduce wastage in production, in return we are able to price our organic produce substantially lower and contribute to growing high quality food as farmers and consumers become co-producers.

Subscription scheme is our transition mechanism toward community supported organic farming while it is being developed by TheVillageGreenShop.  We envision to link local communities directly to a network of farmers so you will have a say in what you want to eat.  We would like more and more people to look after their health and the health of our planet.

Benefits if you subscribe

We offer 5% discount if you subscribe for more than 4 weeks. Discount is applied to weekly staple items for now.  Renewable 2 weeks before expiry.

You are contributing to the affordability of organic produce because you collaborated with us from production through harvest in the planning so we are able to use resource much more efficiently than if you didn’t.  More than other resources and technical expertise it’s the human input that makes the difference such as dedication and passion for organic and sustainable farming and commitment to our social ethos that enables us to produce high quality products. So, why not more people subscribe to organic and sustainable method of producing their own food?

Aside from saving time and money you won’t miss order cut off anymore! Simply you will tell us one time what you want and we’ll deliver them through your door according to your specifications.

Control of what you like

Controlling your food basket is an important component in our subscription scheme.  You will tell us in advance what you want in your weekly food basket which can be a variety of veg, fruits, meat, rice, sugar, herb salt, white or native chicken and other meat items.  You may specify if you want several items unchanged or changed every week or replaced and we will deliver them on an assigned day in your neighbourhood. All subject to seasonality.

Try First Scheme. How?

If you are unable to decide whether subscription is suited for you or to shift to organic food, you may try first.  You may organize a group of friends, co-workers, church mates, family members, or neighbours to buy collaboratively for a minimum of P3k if meeting our min purchase of P5k is big.   We can help you organize one by contacting us at 0927 675 5199/villagegreenshop@btinternet.com

It depends on where you are but some neighbourhoods have no minimum purchase because we have a good following or subscription base in which case you may order anytime even small qualities subject to cut off.
